Great live samba, pagode, batucada and just plain 'musica para grito' came from Xavier's long-established - and deeply authentic-sounding - Pagode Pra Valer, whilst John Armstrong and guest DJ Fernando Dias provided the dancefloor madness.

There were a couple of great dance shows from Rosa and co. - and fabulous costumes, (the last feathers and sequins being attached at about 6pm on the day!)

The dance floor remained pretty fully-occupied -in fact, spilling over onto the main stage - till 6 am: chucking-out time. Great service from the bar, restaurant and kitchen staff throughout (fab coxinhas, pao de queijo, wicked french toast for breakfast - and some very welcome strong brazilian cafezinhos towards the end).
